If you will be having a funeral before the cremation
If you will be holding a funeral before the cremation you may want to have the body present at the funeral, in which case you will need a casket. You may purchase a casket that you can use at the funeral and as the cremation casket, or you may rent a casket from the funeral home and then cremate the body in a less expensive or fancy container.

For most cremation products, there are likely many options in terms of price, style, and personal preference. If the vendor you are shopping with does not have the product or price you want, consider shopping around as another vendor is likely to have the product or price you are looking for.
According to the Federal Trade Commission’s Funeral Rule, you have the right to purchase any funeral products from the retailer of your choice and the funeral home must use those products without additional charge.
