Qualifications
The following people may request death certificates from the state of New Mexico:
- Parent
- Sibling
- Child
- Current spouse
- Maternal grandparent
- Paternal grandparent is eligible if father is listed on the vital record
- Those who represent tangible proof of legal interest in the requested record
Cost
The fee to search for a death certificate is $5.00, which includes one certified copy of the death certificate. Each additional copy of the record ordered at the same time is also $5.00. Certified checks or money orders should be made payable to "New Mexico Vital Records." Cash is not accepted. Fees are not refundable.
