How To Close An Etsy Account When Someone Dies

All the information you'll need to close an Etsy account.

Service: Etsy is an online marketplace specializing primarily in handmade and vintage items and crafts and supplies.

How To Close An Account: There are two kinds of Etsy account: Shop and buyer-only. If there is a shop associated with the account, that must be closed first.

Shops

1. Log in at Etsy’s web site by clicking at the upper right.

2. Click “Your Shop” at the top of the page (as opposed to hovering over it.)

3. Scroll down to click “Options” under the “Shop Settings” heading in the column on the left.

4. Click the Close Shop tab toward the top right of the page.

5. Scroll down and click the “Close Shop” button.

The shop account has now become a buyer-only account.

Buyer-Only Accounts

1. Log in at Etsy’s web site by clicking at the upper right.

2. Click “Your Account” then click “Settings.”

3. Scroll down to the “Close Your Account” section and click the “Close Account” button.

Note: If you don't see the “Close Account” button, there may be an unpaid Etsy bill or open non-delivery report associated with the account. Once all bills and/or open cases are resolved, you'll be able to close your account.

Required Information

  • Email or Username
  • Password

Note: If you logged into Etsy using Facebook or Google you need to disconnect the account and follow the steps to delete that account if you choose to do so.
