What To Do If Death Occurs At Work

If death occurs away from the home, including at another person’s home or at a workplace, you should immediately call 911.

What To Expect When EMS Arrives

Emergency medical services (EMS) will come to the scene and will take the person to the local hospital. Be aware that EMS are legally obligated to attempt resuscitation (such as CPR), even if the person is showing an absence of vital signs (breathing, heartbeat) when EMS arrives.

Working With The Hospital And A Funeral Director To Complete The Death Certificate

Once at the hospital, the hospital staff will begin the process of issuing a death certificate. At this point, a funeral director will be needed in order to complete the death certificate and remove the body from the hospital.
